Rick & Morty-style animated trio: Starting Soon, Stream Ending and stinger in one language — case study

Case study: three animated screens built in a cartoon language for a Kick streamer — a portal-opening Starting Soon, a Stream Ending and an alpha-channel stinger. The line between a style reference and an original character, looping and OBS delivery.

Rick & Morty-style Starting Soon screen — portal opening

Some streamers want their channel identified with a universe: a series, a cartoon, a game aesthetic. The right way is not to copy that universe but to borrow its language. This set was built that way: thick outlines, acid-green portal, slightly warped perspective — but a character and scene unique to the channel. The project page is on the site; the videos are on YouTube.

Three pieces, one scene

Piece What it does Length
Starting Soon the portal opens, the character comes through, the scene settles, the loop begins 15 s loop
Stream Ending the character leaves through the portal, "see you tomorrow" + social area 15 s loop
Stinger the portal covers the screen, the scene changes behind it 1 s, alpha WebM

All three were built on one timeline: the Starting Soon portal, enlarged and sped up, became the stinger; Stream Ending feels like the same scene played backwards. That is why viewers see "one place", not "three videos".

Borrowing a style, not copying

We took the reference from the brief: green portal, cartoon language. The rule:

  • The show's characters, lines and logos are never used.
  • What is taken is visual grammar: outline weight, colour saturation, portal shape, perspective.
  • The character is drawn for the streamer; the scene becomes the channel's own room/world.

Result: viewers recognise the aesthetic, but what they see is the channel's own identity. The distinction is both ethical and practical — the channel takes no risk in platform copyright claims.

Loop and sound

  • Starting Soon and Stream Ending are perfect 15-second loops; the portal light breathes on a sine curve, first and last frames identical.
  • Stinger sound: portal "vwoom" + a short hit; the transition point is the frame where the screen is fully covered (written in ms in the delivery note).
  • Music on a separate layer; the streamer can drop in their own copyright-safe track.

Delivery and setup

MP4 (1080p60) for the two screens, alpha WebM + MP4 preview for the stinger, an OBS setup note: Media Source + loop, Stinger transition + transition point. Setup steps: Starting Soon screen, stinger transition.

In today's structure this trio corresponds to the animated part of the Deluxe package. For your own universe, write on WhatsApp — tell us which aesthetic you love and we will translate its language to your channel.

Frequently asked

1.What is in the set?

Three animated pieces: Starting Soon (portal opening, chat area, loop), Stream Ending (closing scene, raid/social area) and a stinger transition (alpha-channel WebM). All three in the same cartoon language and the same sound family.

2.Doesn't a style reference create copyright problems?

The set does not copy the show's characters or scenes; the 'style' — thick outlines, acid-green portal, cartoon perspective — is taken, and the character and scene are drawn specifically for the streamer. The channel identity gets a recognisable language without using someone else's work.

3.Why make the three pieces together?

When the same motion language, the same sound hits and the same colours are built in one go, viewers see one scene, not three separate videos. Screens made separately usually do not match; made together they also cost less.

4.Which package is this trio in?

Deluxe (2,999 TL) includes three animated screens + a transition video; Starter (1,499 TL) has Starting Soon + transition. A standalone animated set is quoted per project.
